S&P 500 Futures: Thanks To Thanksgiving
S&P 500 Futures
After trading higher through Tuesday’s overnight session, the S&P 500 futures opened Wednesday’s regular trading hours at 2658.25. The first move after the 8:30 AM CT bell was up to an early high at 2663.00, followed by a 12 handle selloff, and then another rip up to a new high of day at 2665.50, all in the first hour.
After a 2556.25 higher low, the ES was barely able to make a new high of 2666.25 at 9:30 when then the pre-holiday chop began to set in. The went on to ES make a double bottom retest of 2656.25, and then rallied up, in a thin-to-win way, to 2671.25 for the morning high. From there, the futures made a late morning retest high of 2671.00 before to dropping down to 2663.25, and then bouncing five handles into the afternoon session.
The early afternoon was nothing but a low volume tight ranged chop. The final hour did see some selling momentum pick up, pulling the ES down to a 2647.75 low of day. The ES went on to print 2650.50 at 3:00 CT, and settled the day at 2648.25, up +8.25 handles, or +0.31%.
